Hi!

Im in South Shields and can receive 146.025 perfectly but the high pitched tone is very annoying. It may be possible to remove it using computer software but im not aware of any real-time audio processing programs to use.

71.300 doesnt have the whine on it but reception is poor.

Can anyone shed some light onto this?!! :D

Cheers

What you are hearing on 146.025 is the link between the various 71.300 output and 81.362 input repeaters and the control room. Although the repeaters all work on the same frequency, the transmissions from each repeater are out of phase with each other so not to cause " doubling" . ( hence the fluttering effect when listening to 71.300 on a scanner as it recieves more than one repeater at the same time ) the change in code tone on 146.025 denotes the direction of transmission. An old system that is now being closed down in favour of TETRA. I think that the 146.025mhz signal is being transmitted from the West Denton Fire Station as this is the contol room. Hope this makes some sense ?

makes absolute perfect sense, thank you! :D

Maybe some one knows a way to eliminate the noise? I recorded 5 minutes and used some audio editing software to remove the noise but its not the same as real-time processing!
