Dead 6900n

Post by yaggiboom »

Been asked to look at a 6900n that has no life whatsoever. It doesn't power up, they've changed the fuse, power cable, different power supplies etc. It all stays blank, no lights and no display. I was wondering if they have a safety feature that prevents the radio from powering up if they have a serious fault to prevent any further damage? Or a reset procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Natalie.

I'd chack the on/off switch. Also check for any burnt tracks.
There's no safety feature that I have ever heard of.
To reset hold down the func and scan buttons while powering-on the radio. Release the buttons when you see RES on the screen.

Thanks for thee replies, looks like its going to be a bit of detective work, basic fault finding. If volts are going in, then they have to be somewhere. I haven't looked at it yet so what the state of it is I don't know. If its all dead then its better than just one circuit or the intermittent .........now you see me, now you don't fault, that for sure.

Clip the reverse polarity diode and see if it bursts into life.

If it's not blowing fuses with the power switch turned off *DON'T* do this ^^^^^
