Unless it's sold by RTI and his growing band of copycats! ;)
It would have to be thrown down the stairs a few times, immersed in water for a week and sprinkled in salt and vinegar before it reached it reached his quality.

Forgot to update on here. My 707 arrived in its original box wrapped in a sheet of white paper, no extra protection. There was a small ding in the box edge but not bad enough to warrant complaining. Radio seems as new when opened, with fused lead (no fuse), original mic, bracket and bag with bits n bobs.

Slightly off frequency and FM power on high side. Nothing to worry about really.

Why, when I asked him to protect it for transit, do they not bother with double box and bubble wrap? It's on a wing and a prayer to get here undamaged.

I wouldn't buy from him again based on the risk but glad it arrived safely.

It's a real shame. These radio's have sat in their boxes untouched for 40 years or so only to be damaged by carelessness. Vintage mint NOS radio's are a collectors dream and condition is paramount. That includes the box. So I'm guessing the seller has no idea about such things hence his cavalier approach to P&P.

As an aside. Has anyone else noticed the lack of a serial number on the box?

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Okay, these radio's, many myths of where they were found but having a convo with the current seller he's told me that he bought them from a trusted seller in Romania who originally bought them at a bankrupt liquidation auction in Switzerland. He bought a 40' container with 500 radios inside, I would love to know what the original price was. Statransmissio-0 has apparently 10 Westlands left, and quite a few AF-320 and CB Master radios remaining.

The CB Master 3600 works out to be roughly the same price that you'd pay for one from Romania due to the P&P and taxes. But the Westland 707's are £50 more than I paid for mine. But it's a scarce opportunity to get to get a NOS radio so people will pay the prices.

Those more recent sellers seem to be in the UK. I'd say around £50.00 more either means a expensive service with a few modifications or a little bit of profit.
Was hoping those Lafayette 1005s were available from the Romanian sellers but he seems to have sold out.

Same with the Telsat's. I wouldn't have minded one of those. Still, very happy with my Westland 707 though.

A friend of mine has picked up a Lafayette (the one that looks like a Beta 3000) in person from one of the sellers - 100 quid.
Will be interested to see how it performs.
Apparently it was an auction in Switzerland. The guy from Romania bought a 40ft container load!
Inside the trailer (among lots of other stuff) was 500+ radios
All NOS stock from Gamond Stereo.

Exactly the same thing happened a few years back. Loads of Telsat's and Westland's flooded the market. I didn't purchase anything at that time, but I decided not to miss out this time around.

Like everyone else I'm wondering how much was paid for the container.
