Post by Mudslinger »

Just out of interest What is the going rate for one of these nowadays, providing that they can be found?

I think I bought 2 new Cobra 2000 GTL meters from him . But the seller I bought the radio from ended up paying for them . But saying that , they weren't cheap either .

You should have asked me about those round meters for the Washingtom . You can get them from our friend wonderco_buy in Taiwan . I think it was these ones I bought .

You need to remove the inlay from the old meter . Then , as I final touch I painted the red needle white with tippex . Good as new . They worked fine in my Maddison .

Fairy Nuff, the thing is I just found one in the loft (from an Audioline homebase)

I didn't want to give it away if it was worth something, but at the same time didn't want to rip anyone off. I have the bulb and bulb holder as well.

I generally don't mess around with homebases. They take up far too much room. :)

I tracked sales of Washingtons/Madisons for a couple of years on eBay.

About 1 in every 2 months crops up. Generally in very poor condition. Prices £100 or more for anything half decent.
My memory can't be too bad because I remember changing the original meter for one from Cirkit in about 1985 because the needle was "lazy" and kept sticking. The scale had to be trimmed just a bit, but to this day it still works!

Well if it fetches £10-15 it is better than a kick in the knackers. :)

I am sure it will sell ok, I am tempted to stick it on as an auction and see what happens. It doesn't owe me anything.

If I had my radios here with me at the moment then I'd probably sell them all . The price of things due to Ebay lockdown fever at the moment is crazy .
