President Grant

Post by jeff66 »

Just opened the Grant up to see if it has been messed with. This is what I found...

There is a diode that has been removed, and was taped to the speaker mount, any ideas what that might be?

Also there is a relay, and a small whit panel that has a couple of jumpers in there, are they additions?
Never had one of these before.

Jeff

The relay is not stock, I am sure. It goes off to the NB switch on the front panel. Damn, I wanted a stock radio!

It looks as if some one has done a frequency mod to the set as it looks as if the relay is wired to some inductors and xtals.

Is it some sort of frequency expansion?

Yup! Just dropped it into the car. Normal 40 all seem fine. Christ knows where it goes when I push the NB and PA buttons! Going to have to see with a freq. display!!

This is just what I did not want! Oh well, see what it does, and if it actually performs. Then move it on I guess. Carry on looking for a stock one.

I am sure it could be put back to stock configuration by someone who knows what they are doing.

I am sure it could, but not worth spending the money on it to be honest. If it works as it is, I will just sell it on for what I paid for it.

OK sorted.... CB/PA switch is for talk through. NB switch take it up into the hi 40 channels.
All works OK, but not what I wanted. Gave it a quick clean up, and all is fine.

So digiscan may still work OK after all.

is it an adams or a grant ???
if it's an adams, don't bother wasting your time with the digi scan as it won't cover more than 60/80 channels (i know i had one)
if it's a grant it might do 200 ok then drop off.
