Yeah . I'm not interested in the newer stuff either m8 . Also , I'm not collecting (many) multiple versions/pcbs of the same rig . I know , I know . I have a couple in there What I am doing is trying to find some boxed versions . The only radios that I might buy are a Jackson Classic , and a AA'ed 360 mk1 . And that's about it .

Personally, I just set out to collect one of each of the manufacturers 27/81 radios from the early 80's (not interested in late stuff either), usually the top mobile radio they made as I've not got the room for homebases.

Rather than them being sat up in the loft in their boxes, I thought I'd get them onto shelves..and then even better, have them lit up if I want to. A decent car battery from the wife's car lol, some good but ebay-cheap jump leads and the connections as seen.
People say radios are for using and bit for looking at, but how many people wash and look after their cars if cars are purely just for driving?

I must admit I do like things nice and tidy..if that's OCD then that's fine, but it's more like having pride in my work and what I own.

My stuff's was only cheap and most radios were bought at a cost of about £20 each on average (apart from about 4 of them) but these are the ones I set out to collect as a bit of a "blast from the past" childhood thing. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't go out (bit difficult to nowadays anyway) so this is the only hobby or pastime I have other than playing with my crappy old Renault Espace If people want to laugh/moan/take the pee then that's up to them, it doesn't bother me and never will.
I don't use CB as I'm married, have 3 kids including a permanently-on-the-go 2yr old and work hard so as I've actually got a life, I spend nearly all of it with them, not shut away in a cupboard/room with headphones on as I did when I was 14 lol.
Just enjoy what you do, whether it be using or collecting..it's all part and parcel of the same hobby

Had a quick count yesterday when I had 5 minutes away from the little one.

Including my 2nd Harrier I bought a couple of weeks back as an impulse buy, I've currently got 94. It was probably about a hundred, but I sold a few that didn't fit in (or that needed uneconomical repairs) to help fund car bits.

There's only a handful that I'd like to get in the future so I doubt if it'd ever get much higher than a ton.

I'm still after that elusive mint and boxed Fidelity 1000
