177.2625/177.4875/178.2625

Post by themysterioussea »

I've been decoding a few MPT-1327 systems at around 177MHz. I've came across a control at 177.2625, and I have decoded 2 voice channels so far (177.4875 and 178.2625). 177.2625 and 177.4875 are both registered to a Garry Weston in Mow Cop according to radioreference, but the only 2 licenses for 178.2625 are right down south.

Just wondering if anyone has monitored these and figured out what exactly they belong to

I've heard voices on frequencies near to those when in Cheshire, I took them to be buses or businesses. The licence holder doesn't need to be based in the area the radios are being used.

That TCC seems to have four (probably five) associated VCs. I didn't record 178.2625 as part of the same net.
Probably better to listen friday/ saturday evenings as the main users I noted were taxi drivers. Haulage firm were another user (talk about delivery of asphalt). All voice traffic was base to mobile or mobile to base and I don't recall noticing any PABX calls.
"Search engine? How do I find that?"

Brief check this morning using an online receiver.
Handful of voice calls on two traffic channels, 182 and 235. No data messages.
Three adjacent network notifications but there was no TCC receivable on those from the online receiver.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info. Which online receiver are you using?

You havnt given a location but in NW England, Manchester Metrolink and Manchester Bee busses use those band 3 freqs. They are upgrading to DMR very soon that that will improve things.

Ah, I'm receiving these and I'm based just outside of Chester. Looks like everyone is migrating to DMR now haha

Logged from Kelsall

178.2500 and 179.3250 certainly carrying the bus trunked system

177.2625 and 177.4500 are not part of the bus network. They share a sysid and transmit simultaneously. Show the same neighbour sites but the neighbour relationship seems to be more to do with default setups that Gould used rather than there being any neighbouring sites?
