Yaesu FT-991B ??

Post by 43Echo695 »

Hi Forum,

With the imminent release of the new Yaesu FTX-1F, anyone care to speculate if the
FT-991A will receive an upgrade/replacement any time soon?

Perhaps with an FTX-1F-ish display upgrade, plus some other goodies? ;)

The 991A was already an upgrade to the 991 so unsure. What would you like to see added to the 991 to make it a worthwhile upgrade vs a newly developped radio? :-)

I have the 991, it's ok, but there isn't really anything the 991A has which would make me want one.

A continuously updating spectrum scope. Having used an Icom 7300, the FT991 felt quite deficient.

The 991 has that also, but granted it's nice have it running with the audio on the A version.

For HF I do prefer my 7300.

The 991 doesn't have a continuously updating spectrum scope.
On the 991, as I'm sure you know, you have to press a button every time you want to do a single sweep and the sound mutes while it is doing it. I find that a bit crap*y.

Had the 991 and the A.............Boring radio and lack lustre on vhf/uhf and the c4fm decode is trash, Icom 7100 far better radio and I like my Yaesu radios. What we need is a multimode vhf/uhf c4fm in a ft710 case.
