I finally found my SeaVoice RT550 Marine band radio which I wanted to setup to listen to the marine traffic however it makes a popping sound when squelch is up and an incoming signal is received... I'm sure its not supposed to be doing that.
I've already cleaned the squelch and volume potentiometers because they were very crackly.
I'm not a radio engineer by any means but I am thinking that it could be something simple and easily fixed?

Re: SeaVoice RT550 issue
Dried out capacitors most likely.
Unused electronic gear is ageing very quickly. That's why every 2-3 month I power up my all hoarded gear to keep caps in shape.

Re: SeaVoice RT550 issue
i was thinking that, the radio looks very clean inside I can't spot any capacitors that look like they may be leaking or bulging. I will download the service manual and do some fault finding... I might be able to find the bad caps.
