Hello, I recently just bought a Hytera PD785 from someone and seems like I can't figure how to make it work.
It came without a battery at all so after checking if it turns on I ordered a new battery and a programming cable too.
Battery and cable just arrived today. I installed the usb drivers and everything. When trying to read the radio trought CPS (v9) i get the error "Read the radio information error!", i've tried also to Reset Default Data but I get the same error. From what I understood it might be password protected? And I have to update to the latest firmware then try Reset Default Data again? The fun part is that the fw on the unit is v1.00.00.461, and the lowest firmware upgrade kit I found was v5.05.05.022 but it doesn't work because I don't have older versions..
At the moment i'm a bit stuck and don't know what should I do next, i've also tried to read the data with an older vw version of CPS V2.02 but there I get "Failed to connect radio. Please check all connections and port settings!"
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

Re: Trouble configuring Hytera PD785
Update:
Managed to find an older CPS version (v7.06.02.006) that opens the radio in programming mode. Had a password, luckily it was 88888888 . When trying to Reset default data i still get "Read the radio information error!" .
Is there any way to update from the factory fw version or am i doomed with it?

I don't know if you have worked anything out yet, but I do recall there is a program used to update the firmware on these radios.
You then have to have the corresponding CPS version as well to program it.
I hope you have already sorted it though

Re: Trouble configuring Hytera PD785
Fireware has to match the CPS version so for example in order to use CPS version 7 you'd need firmware 7.
Passwords don't matter you can clear these when doing the firmware update. Firmware versions are step by step so forexample you can't go from firmware 3 to firmware 7 but you can go to firmware 5 from firmware 3, you'd then need firmware 6 to go upgrade to firmware 7.
Personally my experience with Hytera is that there radios are worse than cheap Baofengs.
Don't waste your money, sort it out then sell it & get yourself a Motorola.
