Re: My HomeBrew / Converted Server PSU
Ive been running this supply for over an hour today working contesters @ 50 watts and no issues what so ever, Its just as clean as my purpose built PSU. And the fan is very quiet, One thing to note is the caps in these are only rated at 16 volts, So if your going to be pulling a lot of power from these it might be worth while upgrading the caps to 25 volts, I won't bother as i'm not on the radio much and have a spare should it go pop.

Re: My HomeBrew / Converted Server PSU
Interesting... these units look very compact and small, no large heat sinks... I think I'm going to get one. I'm going to buy the HP model but I might make a nice housing for mine. I think the 13.8 volt mod isn't to hard to do although I'd need to find out exactly what to do. I'll get a little volt/amp meter as well plus toggle switch & power LED.

Re: My HomeBrew / Converted Server PSU
Here is the instructions for modifying the HP DPS 1200FB. The procedure for modifying the HP 1200SB is slightly different but there's a ton of information online. From stock these supplies put out approx 12.3 volts. The mod below details how to extend the voltage range up to 13.8 volts and how to extend the limit of the over voltage protection circuit so it doesn't trip when the output voltage is increased..

Not directly related to this thread but close enough to be worth mentioning. The cheapest easiest way of getting a very useful bench supply, YMMV if you try to use it with HF radios.
my friend grafter, seems like you are using a very offensive tone in the reply.
