I am about to get a silver front Jackson and was wondering if it is supposed to have a heat sink on the rear or was that only later versions.

It is clearly visible, that heatsink was removed.
Rest of white thermal paste and vertical lines from heatsink edges are visible.

All the old silver and black Jacksons had heatsinks fitted as standard

Look at the fixing screws of the RF power transistors
