Just an update . Tried this mod yesterday . It does vary the power , but it affects the AM modulation as well . On full power I have 8W and 90% mod . When I reduce it to 4W , the modulation drops to about 50/60% . Not too sure why , but I'm going to remove it and just use the VRs to set it at 4/12 for my amp .

I don't know why . The modulation doesn't vary with the VR , but it did when I had the mod wired up . Might be something with my radio . Anyway , I've removed it now . It's no big deal . I might try it on another radio when I get some time .
