Looks good. Thought these might have been made in Japan like similar Uniden radios of the time , but they must have moved production around this time. I have the later MB8719 President and Uniden badged versions.

These photos are of the back of the 10 pin connector, the inside of the connector and where the wires are connected to a board. Maybe someone modified for a frequency counter.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can't enlarge the photos to see the part numbers , but it looks as if it might be for a counter . Where does it connect to the main pcb ?

Here is a wider view of the inside, I can do better photos if I know what I need to share.

Still can't see that . Anyway . As I said . Once you see where it's connected , then you'll figure out what it does .

Cheers

Since we can only post a 2mb photo per comment. I will try to do 3 from different angles and better resolutions to be seen easier. #1

The 75492PC is a display driver , so I'd say yes , there was probably an external counter display connected to it via that cable . Also , you've got a coax cable coming in to that pcb , which is presumably coming from the VCO circuit . If it was mine , then I'd probably rip all that stuff out .

Thank you so much for your help. Great suggestion about taking it out but for the moment I am going to leave it in the radio.

I wouldn't touch it tbh. The MM55110 is a PLL chip, and that radio needs at least one of them.

I saw that too , but I'd still rip it all out . Let it run with the uPD858 and buy a Maurer module for it . Just my 2c .
