You'd think for something as simple as these things that manufacturers would have gotten together and decided to use the same size thumbscrews a few decades ago, like car stereo manufacturers did with the DIN-sized car stereos. There are loads of different thread sizes, designs, lengths...

Re: Mk-1 Lincoln thumb screws
M6 it is.
Well it is now as m4 went straight through the hole.
So i got the vacuum and had it running while i ran a M5 tap through so no steel btis in the radio and now they fit nicely also a blast with an air-duster to make sure.
Apparently they made a M4.5 size but raera than rocking horse poo but that might be the original size.
The Lincoln II+ has M5 so wouldn't fit.

Re: Mk-1 Lincoln thumb screws
Sorry i put m6 in my last post it should have been m5.
M5 are not the correct thread for the original Lincoln they will go in one turn and tighten up maybe 1.5 turns but that it it.
The mk2 Lincoln takes the m5 but not the original radio.
You could force the m5 in and cut the thread that way if you wanted but i had the tap to do it so went that way.
Hope this might help somebody else one day.
And thanks for the suggestions above.
