May be useful.
Pretty sure there was also a version with the Maxon board from the 4E etc.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

There are about a dozen versions of the Catswhiskers radios, including homebase, portable, mobile, LED-metered, tradition metered...
There was a guy on here a year or two ago that collects them alone and has dozens, including some boxed ones. If he's still about, he'll have the most info I reckon.

Re: CATSWHISKERS CAT CALL CW1580
I have 2 myself, a silver-fronted 1580P (portable) and a rarer black-fronted Catcall CW 15/40 mobile.
I need the cases for the black one though as it was fitted into a home-made homebase unit and they were removed (probably for cooling). When a cheap, battered CW radio comes up, I might get it just for those.
I believe they're a British brand, made using the guts from the likes of Maxcom etc like other company's did.

They were definitely made with the farming communities in mind, so adjacent channel rejection and a better-filtered receive wasn't a priority. Out in the fields, you were less likely to suffer from interference from close-by neighbours like we were in our houses.
Cheap & cheerful production was the order of the day with these things methinks.
