Afternoon all, I know next to b*gger all about SDRs but would like to get one and my missus has offered me one as an xmas pressie
here is what I want as an outline...
HF coverage, would be nice to cover 446 but not a deal breaker
inbuilt display / user interface so i can take it out and about without the hassle of a laptop etc
I'd like to be able to set it up as a web SDR at my QTH so i can radio check myself when i'm out mobile
Waterfall display
So my question is what can people recommend?
Have been looking at the Malachite DSP SDR but am a bit confused as to what the score is with the firmware licensing, any other options I should be looking at in the sub 200 quid range?
Thanks in advance!
SDR recommendation please

Malahite 2 from original maker.
Can work as websdr, but needs PC running.
Those without PC to be online are without rest of features you require.

Re: SDR recommendation please
Thanks ch25. Silly question maybe but I don't see a Malahite '2' listed just DSP SDR as per the below...
What is the score with the Chinese 'Malahit' ones on ebay assume theses are clones? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255029103011 ... SweGVg1aGG
I cant see the 2GHz ones available anywhere in the UK that look genuine.

Yes, these are clones.
Buying clone, you must pay license fee for new firmware to original maker.
Chinese contains "full" firmware, but not possible to update - it's just cracked to unlock all features
