Yea, I just turn the channel to 16 and turn it on. It scans until it receives something and then stays on that channel. There's no way of knowing what channel it's on when this happens. I restart the scanning by turning the HT off and on again.

Its kinda strange I own a few Baofeng 888s and I could only get one to scan on channel 16 the other two didn't scan at all. There nice little radios for the price tho I'd recommend those to anybody wanting a cheap PMR radio.

More likely just using them illegally.

Many businesses buy these and just use them on the frequencies they come with. They are cheap radios so very attractive to those who need two way radios for there shops restaurants etc. They don't understand how radio works they just use them.

BB Guns4Less also use the illegal frequencies they come with in there shop and even sell them in there shop for 3 times the price.

TK Max and sports direct also use PMR446 then moan or call security when somebody like me is on a hilltop somewhere with a 446 radio :D

Some of these are big companies and makes me wonder, surly they can afford to have proper licensed business radios instead of using illegal stock frequencies on the Baofeng 888S radios and PMR446 walkies?
