Tecsun AN 200 loop on test.

Post by bigbassman »

I have the TECSUN AN-200 loop and decided to test it with 3 radios, the Radiwow R-108,the XHDATA D-808,and the Roberts R861.I'm using a mono 3.5 mm to 3,5mm jack lead, and heres what I found.
With the Roberts,it brought in daytime stations like BBC Wales,Lancashire,Manx Radio and even Radio Scotland to a listenable level. (im in N.Ireland)Very good.
With the other 2,Zilch,nada,nothing.The loop had NO effect whatsoever on MW signals with these radios. All 3 have dedicated Ext.antenna sockets, but the 2 from the Radiwow stable were pants.Anybody got any thoughts on this? Thanx.I should add that without the connecting lead, the loop works as it should with all 3 radios

Interesting, how effective are they when just used without being connected ?

Pretty good John.It can bring in a lot of UK AM stations to a more listenable level. It depends a lot I find on local QRM though. Its quite directional so turning it to null out one signal can actually intensify something else thats not wanted. At nighttime it can vastly improve continental stations, again depending on your location, and local QRM

That's interesting qrm is very low here so it's not an issue for me I was more curious that's all. Cheers for the reply
