Fine/Coarse controls
Hi All .
Now , I know I can get these here :
https://radio-media-system.com/epages/b ... s/SS000200
but does anyone know if they're available elsewhere for cheaper ? Nick told me that Knights used to have them , but they're long gone I think . I want about 6 of them . I've been trolling through Ebay for dual potenciometers (1K/20K) for a while . but haven't seen any . Are the original ones made by ALPS ? Don't know .
These guys have them as well , although they're slightly different .

I've been around Aliexpress as well , but you could spend the rest of your life going through all that .
Anyone got a box full of NOS ones , or know where I can get some ?
S.

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
I only found SS3900 on/off vol/squelch pots on aliexpress, but never found the double clarifier pots. I still have two for President Jackson and one spare for SS3900, but it would be good to find a source.

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
Hi Ralf. Yeah. I've none left. I had 2 radios with the same issue. The connection between the rivet and resistor strip was bad on both. Point to note. Don't try and solder it. The resistor strip just shrivelled up as soon as the heat touches it New radios are still being made with them , so someone's making them. S.

I have used conductive silver paint to make the connection in the past.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2021, 20:30 The connection between the rivet and resistor strip was bad on both. Point to note. Don't try and solder it. The resistor strip just shrivelled up as soon as the heat touches it

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
Good idea Tim. It's the first time that I've really had to strip one down. Usual switch cleaner does the trick. I'll have a look for the paint.
Cheers

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
I had a look at a few controls and I haven't seen a maker's mark on any of them.

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
I do have a dual control with ALPS stamped in the back, but it's not a fine/coarse one.

Yeah . I've seen the little circle on some of them . I don't have any radios handy , so I couldn't look . They look ALPS made anyway .

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
Hi, been looking for these myself.
The pot in the first link I can't seem to find any values, do you know is it 20k/1k. I tried emailing them but no reply.
Cheers.
Malky.

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
All the Uniden/Ranger/President ones I've seen are 20k/1k.
I bought stuff from them before, but the last time was probably 5/6 years ago .

Re: Fine/Coarse controls
The values are the same for Uniden or Ranger Clarifier pots, but the middle position is different of nearly 90 degrees.
