This is truly an amazing design! As I am new to Aurduino and Adafruit, I do not as yet have the ability to create a sketch for the Audrino to control the Adafruit. The board is built, installed and I'm all ready to go... Except for the firmware/software. Do you have a link for the sketch you made for the Audrino and do you have a link for the Windows software you created for tuning the radio?

Thank you in Advance!

Dan

Decided that I'm going to install one of my Adafruits into my old 858 GRANT . I'm going to recap the radio first , but once I've done that then I'll start this installation . I'll post updates here as I go along .

Will do. Away on a road trip at the moment, will email or cyberlocker them to you when we get back Monday or Tuesday. Recap is essential with those first, yet to see one that didn't have at least bad electro...

My basement is still in the mid 30s , so I'll start this project once it starts to cool down a bit :)

Something like this sprung to mind when I read that :D
I've had this thread bookmarked since it started and I was very interested when @dt307 did the Adams, would have loved to see a finished article on that one.

All those valve and Spark Gap Transmitters Paul........ Toasty

Might be able to do that Dougie with one of these

This expansion is more or less the same as the 2824 one which I did previously . There's a few differences in the value of some of the components , but the gist is the same . It's just to hot here at the moment to do anything . It's times like these when I wish I was back living in Yoker :)

Salve puoi inviarmi lo sketch per arduino, e se puoi il link dell'app rf20. Grazie.

Hi can you send me the sketch for arduino, and if you can the link of the rf20 app. Thank you.

What would be needed to do a 12 band 158? The one with hi lo bands switch as its has two xtals

Not sure what you mean be a "158" - many brands and models we never seen down here in Oz, so you'll need to give enough detail to allow a meaningful google or document search. Brand and full model name, and what PLL chip / crystals it has in it should be enough to say yes or no.

Also, "12 band" - is that 12 x 450KHz (i.e. 12 lots of 40 channels, aka 5.4 megs of coverage, like 24.6 to 30 MHz)? If the radio was designed for a lot less than that originally, it's going to need some creative broadbanding before you start.

It’s the ranger ept9900 14b

Superstar 158fb4 12x40ch six way band switch with hi lo toggle button

I’d have to check the xtals

Those are very rare down here, can only recall records of doing one in 10+ years, and that was for a routine repair, not a modification.

At a minimum, we would need a schematic, the crystal frequencies, and the downmix frequencies (N-codes) for channel 1 and 40 on each band.

On the plus side, no need for broadbanding mods, looks like it was designed in the first place for that bandwidth...
