Yaesu Ft 840 Noise Blanker..

Post by Raverrst »

Hi All

My FT 840 seems to have quite a effective noise blanker cutting out my Plt noise I get, however after being on for 5mins it seems to become less and less efficient until it comes to the point that it seems to make no difference wether on or off.. is there anything Of a common fault on these sets that could cause this..

Thanks..

I would check/replace faulty electrolytic capacitors in NB circuit.

Thanks for the response guys.. Claude looking at the diagram im seeing other caps in the circuit but indeed actually on the board on the radio c1229, c1230 and c1232 are the only visible caps, all of the same value, strange? and would you fit better spec caps or fit as per value already fitted.. Thanks for any help..

I would buy quality ones like Nichicon or Panasonic made.
