Best antenna to listen to marine band

I'm going to the coast for a few weeks with work will be in the area of thornwick bay near Bridlington and want a decent antenna for my 125XLT I've got some cheap ones that are ok for round where I live but I dint think they will be any good when over there. Thanks

What length 1/2 wave dipole for general scanning ??? do you think best to make Chris

Well, the wavelength at 159 MHz is 1.88 metres, so a halfwave dipole would be 0.94m, each leg being 0.47m. Don't get obsessive about the last fraction, it'll just work.
