Post by gmham »

Seems cheap enough eh ?! Seem to remember parrot repeaters being sold before but this would probably be a better idea ?

The cheap cross band repeaters have been around a while and once the VOX levels are set up they work well. It is advised that the 2 radio antenna are spaced out from each other as far as possible, >15ft..
I think these work on a first come first served basis, others can have a VHF or UHF priority..
They seem to work cross mode with no problems..

Thanks mike appreciate the info yes must admitt did cross my mind how the two radios would work sitting right next to each other buy yes if making a permanent or semi permanent set up you would obv try use a decent external antenna as opposed to just using the two radios with there set top aerials . Just need to find a local hill to site it !!!

An even better solution with DTMF remote control so you can activate and shut down etc..

My testing was done on a high rise building with radio antenna separated vertically .
The most important thing is the quality of the radio receivers quality.

If you have a raspberry pi and a USB audio card you can make use of my parrot repeater script, the repeater boxes above won't work on 446 as there is insufficent bandwidth between the channels to set up a duplex repeater. That is unless the apparatus can operate in simplex mode (Parrot).
