You may need something with a counterpoise included.

If it doesnt dwarf the boat, I think the Gain Master may do the trick. Its essentially a dipole in a fibreglass case right?

There are fibreglass aerials made for marine use that don't need a groundplane and I'm sure I've seen one for 27mhz that does the same. Google is your friend and may be able to find the thing.

Just don't drill through the floor of the boat to try and fit a 7ft Firestik in it ;)

Edit... for example:

..and if you want to look the part and you just want a basic, 40ch radio, youll need a Quasar or Jesan radios -

This wasn't purchased using stolen funds from that "I want to buy a narrowboat and put a CB radio in it. Give me money please!" topic from a few years back was it??? :)

If you're going up canals etc then use aluminium, but if it's going out to sea, use stainless steel.
As long as it's not a narrowboat ('cause it would look stupid), you could always make a roll over-type bar like on cars and you could mount the aerial on that.

bit late to the game here but I used one of these inside a fiberglass truck https://www.thunderpole.co.uk/base-cb-a ... libur.html not the best but it will work. I also stuck a load of silver foil on the inside of the roof of the truck and used a springer that did work well.

I use a Saturn 5 type short homebase antenna. Two spring tool clips fixed to the transom means if it catches on something, or for storage it just unclips. Works well and doubles as the stern flag staff.
