Post by gmham »

Fancy trying out a tetra decoding software with my rsp1 / sdr# but before I do is there much unencrypted tetra signals around the Fife / Edinburgh area ?
What type of user uses tetra over DMR ?

Non Airwave Tetra tends to be used by a number of underground railway systems i.e. London Underground, plus a tram system in Nottingham...
Don't think there is anything around Fife/Edinburgh..

Doubt it, Tetra is designed for expensive multi slot trunked radio systems, a bit over the top for event security..
Hytera make all sorts of radios, they have a model designation on them, from that we can identify mode and frequency band..

As Mike says, I very much doubt it's TETRA either. Switch it off, pop the battery off for a second, have a look at the model number, tell us what it is. It'll likely say frequency band as well. I'm willing to bet it'll be a PD5 or PD7 model. A TETRA subscriber model will be a PT model.
