RANGER 2900, TS 789 DX,GALAXY URANUS Vco..

Post by Raverrst »

Hi All..

Got hold of a SOMMERKAMP TS 789 Dx variant of this radio, I’m finding the Vco is taking afew seconds to lock whether I’m changing frequency or indeed mode, also on tx it “wobbles” abit on the initial key up. Believe it’s abit of a known fault with theses radios. Question is, is there any fix? or a better replacement Vco?

Much thanks for any help 🙏

Hi . Thought Chris answered this on FB . Did it not resolve this issue , as it looked like the exact same issue that you were having .

Hi, yes it’s greatly improved things 👍 There is a much more in-depth fix on “Cb Tricks” under Ranger 2900 but as said Chris’s find fix of Changing Resistor R-124 from 47k to a 10ohm then setting Vco voltage to 2volts on 28mhz for anyone Requiring this info in the future, has worked a treat..
