hi guys my brother had this radio and it was working until he got hold of it,so i asked him did he cross the polarity wires and of course he said he did not,but im not sure i believe him as hes not the greates come this kind of stuff.
am wondering if the D105 diode needs changing as i had a look and it does not look good so could indeed be the problem especially if it was wired wrong at the psu end.
thing is i have no D105 diode here,i have D103 D108 etc,can i put in any other diode apart from the D105 ?

Snip the diode then see if the radio powers up, Most silicon diodes should suit as a replacement, Just be sure to get the orientation right

Take DMM and trace voltage from power socket onwards. You'll find where it disappear.

Re: rci ranger 2950 not powering up
Also disconnect the Pa as shorted mosfets may stop it starting up
The am regulator if short (likely) would do it also.
If in doubt send it to repair with someone
