Antenna Advice

Post by damhug1980 »

Hi All

I am just starting out on CB and I have magmount with a Sirio 900 blue line antenna, I have tried to use it indoors but not picking up a lot. I was thinking of getting a grounded mirror mount antenna kit and attaching it the pole of my old sky dish, would this work or would I better getting a different homebase antenna?

Thanks
Damian

Thanks for your reply, can I bolt this to my sky dish pole or need to bolt it to the wall?

To dish pole.
Keep in mind, that it should be in a free space. Closer to obstacles, worst performance.
If you will have for example building wall along antenna performance will be poor and you will have SWR problems.

Perhaps try the radio and magmount in a car on high ground locally for an hour or so for a few evenings, especially the weekend. If you still can't hear anyone at all, even distant, I'd save your money as you might not have anyone living close enough to talk to, even with a bigger, expensive homebase aerial.

Tune it in with the clarifier.
They are clicky and sound goes off with each click on the 6900's .
So a bit of a pain.

Hi, my radio is starting to make this noise on most stations, is it something to be worried about or is it normal?

Turn off the mains supply in your house and power your radio from a battery (if you have one) and see if the noise persists or not
