Antenna Advice
Hi All
I am just starting out on CB and I have magmount with a Sirio 900 blue line antenna, I have tried to use it indoors but not picking up a lot. I was thinking of getting a grounded mirror mount antenna kit and attaching it the pole of my old sky dish, would this work or would I better getting a different homebase antenna?
Thanks
Damian

Thanks for your reply, can I bolt this to my sky dish pole or need to bolt it to the wall?ch25 wrote: ↑03 Oct 2023, 08:58 That's a minimum https://www.thunderpole.co.uk/base-cb-a ... -wave.html

Re: Antenna Advice
To dish pole.
Keep in mind, that it should be in a free space. Closer to obstacles, worst performance.
If you will have for example building wall along antenna performance will be poor and you will have SWR problems.

Re: Antenna Advice
Perhaps try the radio and magmount in a car on high ground locally for an hour or so for a few evenings, especially the weekend. If you still can't hear anyone at all, even distant, I'd save your money as you might not have anyone living close enough to talk to, even with a bigger, expensive homebase aerial.

Re: Antenna Advice
Hi, I managed to get the Silver rod installed on my sky dish pole and the SWR reading on the radio CRT 6900N is coming through as 1.0/1.1 but some of the voices coming through sound distorted, anyone able to advise on this?

Tune it in with the clarifier.
They are clicky and sound goes off with each click on the 6900's .
So a bit of a pain.

Re: Antenna Advice
Hi, my radio is starting to make this noise on most stations, is it something to be worried about or is it normal?

Re: Antenna Advice
Turn off the mains supply in your house and power your radio from a battery (if you have one) and see if the noise persists or notdamhug1980 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 08:17 Hi, my radio is starting to make this noise on most stations, is it something to be worried about or is it normal?
