Why do people sit on the 19 ?

I live out in the sticks in Shropshire and find CB radio impossible to use because of High Power stations in the towns and Cities sitting on the 19. I would love to be able to use CB preferring the relaxed nature rather than the Ham bands but I've just packed CB in again after only a few days due to this.

Not gonna lie in London it's changed a bit. 10 year ago when i was on cb everyone would live on the 19 and had a panic attack if they left the 19 for more then a minute. Now people use other channels which is good to see.

Listen you don't survive on cb radio with a thin skin. You're gonna get abuse and people keying up or over you.That is just the nature of it.Get a group to talk to and form a channel.

Thats what we do around here. Channel 19 is impossible because of the drunk benefit scroungers sitting on the 19 talking crap with their 500W amps so we all meet on the mid block.

Sounds like CB is really crowded in UK.
Here, close to capital 40ch is all day quiet.
Small traffic on 19 and that's all.
CB is dead here.

in my part of ayrshire you have dimwits on T5 CH19 which they never move, they moan about skip spoiling their qso and have admitted that if call freqs change thats where they will talk , there is one who uses this forum who says his rig is faulty and it transmits on t5 only and tells skip to qsy or shut up , lets see if he will tell us why him and his mates do it , shall i hold my breath
