Hello again!
I have picked up a cheap MM2 and I have a few questions.
Firstly, whats going on with the knobs? I didnt expect them to stick out. Not fussed really but doesnt seem right. Pots replaced?

Also, when clarifier is on, and at 12 o clock position, radio is off frequency. Any way to align this so the clarifier is the same frequency at 12 o clock position when clarifier switch on or off?
SSB audio seems good. FM is ermm... faulty, lacks volume, possibly whole set off frequency. Is it as simple as adjusting a single can or RV?
Board looks unmodded but it is a little tatty. Unsure what I can do about the front. May need lots of patience to tidy it up.

The knobs have always been that way on multimode II's, it's just how they are. FM TX audio is a bit more involved, they were pants from the off and UK shift makes it worse, you have to re-route the audio into the VCO like later radios, then they sound better. The clarifier is a different matter, it switches RX and TX shift on and off, I usually wire clarifier permanently on and set freqs, then just switch tune on/off by itself. There is no middle bit thats 'just right' I'm afraid. They weren't perfect but they were good enough at the time. It does look to be in very good condition for one of those though, so you got lucky there, I've seen so much worse myself for 40+ year old CB's.

Thanks Mitch. I didnt know the knobs are supposed to be like that. Strangely nothing like the concorde. Good to know they are the right ones for the radio.
Im lucky to own the old girl then! Will see if I can get her up to speed in the coming weeks. I suspect she needs sending to someone who knows the cans from the capacitors...

If the outer ring was more flush with the radio's front panel, in no time your fingernails or fingertips would wear down the lettering and the paint, so by raising them off a little, it helps to prevent it.

You still see a good number of MM2's with very worn fronts from big thumbed heavy handed users.
