Older women had the house before me drew hence the bannister, I can still manage the stairs unaided, And didn't want to see it go to wasteAuldgeek wrote: ↑18 Jul 2023, 18:27Silly question time.Buick Mackane wrote: ↑18 Jul 2023, 17:41After a couple of heavy coats of black paint does the trick nicely

Yes it seems the cheapest.
I have got a 16' plastic coated ally pole with a dipole fitted away from home .
But I want to put a silver rod up and there are overhead power cables nearby so I need a bit less height.
Plus the 16' pole is too wide to take the u-bolts.
This should be ideal

Why?
I was thinking about this post.
Our bannister is fastened to the side wall and painted white. My mrs complains it has hand marks on it
And I'm able to traverse stairs unaided/fairly fit. But walking down steps one night at work, and holding a handrail, my left leg/ankle suddenly gave way
Luckily I was near the bottom and a cardboard paper recycling bin broke my fall and stopped me head butting a metal stansion
Even though I'd had hold of the rail, my hand just slid down it.

A banister is a handrail supported by the balusters, commonly referred to as a handrail, the presence of balusters allows it to be free-standing, unlike just a handrail which is mounted to a wall.
Is that handrail mast complete (with) balusters then?
