currently got 7 jumbo's
one of your old ones, still not working yet..!!
a mk2 which your old one might save..
my hybrid mk2
erm and four more..!!

non for sale though :)

yours looks ok but i'd lose the white lines on the controls..!!
other than that makes it look ok..

why not fit white LED in the channels, or blue ??

Image

this is my mk2 hybrid..
uses a Colt 1200DX board so a PTBM121
voice changer, turbo echo, 60w amp, bleeps and farts..
and with the spares i now have all correct knobs, and could even fit new lids and front..!!
it's somewhere in the loft..!!

Yep that looks lovely paul well impressed !! is it my old one that I sold to you a while back by any chance ???

have to agrea with mark thou would personally loose the line markings on the rotary controls as well as remove the mk1 logo. as mentioned before thou think you have done an excellent job off the actual extra band markings.

its actually looks in very, very nice clean condition, was it like this or have you managed to find a magic polish to bring the original shiny back ??!!!

find servisol foam cleaner cleans the muck/ grime off old sets but still to find something that will bring back that " new look " effect ??

where did you get the additional white lettering for these ??

may have a very nice ham concorde 2 here if you are interested iin the ham int series in general ??

Im not a big fan of the blue LED readout's and i fined the blue LED meter's lamps only work well in the dark but thats just my opinion on them. but i must admit that B.p.'s jumbo looks well with them in........

Yes gmham this is your old jumbo i got it out the loft and had a play about with it.
Why i put the lines on this radio is that it's now got the same frequency lay out as the mk3 jumbo as well as uk40 so it has a 6 way rotary band switch so i needed to mark it up just in case i was going to sell it on as well as that the radio go's with the Ham jumbo mk3 frequency chart.
And the display is setup the same as the mk3 not block of 40 like most are this is set up
-80/-40/40/+80/+120/uk40 as well as that i have updated the display panel lights to have the hi channel light's and neg channel lights as well as a light to tell you that your on uk40 frequency's as well as the the LED channel read out dot's light up to tell you if your on low's which is one dot or if your on lowlow's you get 2 dots and you get the dot's on the hight bands as well. I have all so fitted a 10 khz shift to get them A channels as well and there's a light in the display to tell you that this is on.

I fine to clean jumbo's up i use alcohol to get the crap off the surface then i use mr sheen furniture polish it has some wax in it to give it the shiney look.................

The white lettering was off ebay at the cost of £3.99 it's vinyl lettering you can get all different sizes 2mm 3mm 5m and so on i used 3mm for this job.

;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Which yaesu are we on about there i have 8 of them here
If your on about the one on the jumbo...............
It's a Yaesu FT897 hf vhf uhf radio it's been fully opened up to cover a lot of bands by a shop and yes it cover's 11 meters.......
It is all so for sale or swop's or deals...................
Here's a link to it and more...........

Dont for get if any one has a jumbo for sale or is looking to deal on hf or vhf kit then get in contact with me.........

regards the jumbo 3..
anyone tell me if it has the schematic type layout on the top lid ???

being offered one which seems to have a normal mk1/2 lid on it...

anyone ??

on the blue lighting, it looks better in the flesh..
i have a few whites as well, so my next jumbo conversion will be white..!!
nothing over the top, just UK40 frequency counter (in white if i can find them)
if not all blue :)

and a few other subtle changes.

Yes there is a difference with the MK 1 to the MK3's schematic's B.P for a start if you look on the right hand side of the top you will see the schematic of the mode selector you will see 5 modes on it and the MK1's and 2's only have 3 modes on it. not long ago i had my jumbo's top cover redone in black as the schematic on the top was worn off and it had some mark's in the paint work so i sent it off to jms leic to have it painted up a shame really the schematic was rubbed away...................
