Cab to signal boxes are round about 196 - 198 mHz, the signal boxes to cabs round about 204 - 206. There are a specific set of channels for trains. I've had a few hits of Strathclyde's trains, which use cab secure radio, up about 448 - 455 mHz.

The complete list from a file of mine, the first two digits are the bank number from the scanner they were originally in.

00 454.84375 Cab Secure Radio Ch 1 Control

No bother. I use trains a lot and like to be nosey at times when on board. I listen in on the platform frequencies, especially at Glasgow Central or Queen Street etc if I'm there before the local trains start boarding. They always announce which platform trains are going from over the radio about a minute or two before it comes up on the departure board, so when it's broadcast I can make my way to it before the rest of the crowd, and my chances of getting a seat are increased!

Also, the cab secure radio frequencies (448-455) are only used by Strathclyde's 'Ayrline' trains, I don't think the Glasgow suburban trains use them, also South West Trains and Misery, sorry, MerseyRail.

Make the most of listening to trains people, tetra airwave is on it's way into the trains companies. It's only some information I pulled up on the web when reading about the airwave service, just said in a small article that two train networks in London had signed upto to tetra. That's whats disappointing, tetra is going to finish the hobby of scanning off all together, i thought it was just the emergency servies but I think everyone who communicates via radio is going to join airwave, the diease of radio scanning due to its encryption which will never be cracked as its fort knox.
Tetra digital radio was a bad technology, if the scanner user can't listen to it then it has no place to exist! :)
