Noise

Post by nicky »

I have a lot of noise on my Base station CB radio. I have tried everything to find the source and the power company has been very cooperative by changing a bunch of faulty insulators and such but this hasn't helped a whole lot. I was checking out the 'QRM eliminators" on Ebay and Amazon. They are priced around $ 50 to $60. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with these and if they work. Any help greatly appreciated

Work for some type of noise.
I'm afraid, that you have to test it in your environment to get the answer,

I would try to find where the noise is coming from first before spending money as it could be a PSU for something in the house

First course of action should be to check the noise isn't emanating from a piece of equipment in your own house, Turn the mains supply off and power the radio from a battery. We have a lot of things that can cause noise these days, TV's, Lighting, Power Supplies etc etc ,,

As for QRM Eliminators i was never convinced by them, They might reduce the noise but reduce your receive level at the same time

I had 30+ noise not long ago. Turns out it was my neighbours new car battery charger. It can come from anywhere.
