857d problem with FM broadcast receiving

Hello.
A Problem has occurred with receiving FM broadcast via my 857d. It was doing fine and then not. I cannot change mode when I get to the frequency.
driving me nuts. I reset the radio with no avail.

Is that unusual? I have an 857D and I can't change modes on broadcast FM either, it defaults to WFM, but why would I want or need to? I would think it's designed like that, but if your's used to change mode then that'd be strange I'd have thought.
