AOR AR-DV1 Scanner Analog + Digital Modes

Post by paulbex57 »

Hi all.
Just picked up a AOR AR-DV1 Scanner.
Being new to scanning any help in using the said radio would be a great help.
Just had a discone antenna put up 25 feet in the air.
Any frequencies on any modes would be a great help to.
Im in Nottingham UK.
Many thanks to all in advance that can help.

I have the DV1 as well, Had mine about a year ago. But the freq around where I live would probably be no good where you live. I would suggest that you search small areas at a time until you find something interesting. Then store them into the different banks.I store Ham freq in one bank then 446 in another bank etc then. I would suggest that in the Aircraft range of freq don't use the Auto mode, use the DV1 in AM mode as it seems to work a bit better.
If the problen cant be sorted with a "LUMP-HAMMER" then its most likely to be an Electrical fault

I've had my DV1 for a few years now and it's pretty decent. Around here (Manchester) there is lots of DMR activity on 453 and 456 MHz. There's also some around 440/441 and 445. Get ready for the infamous DV1 'dalek voices'!

Hi Paul. I have a selection of ironmongery in the air. My main antenna for UHF is an amateur band 432 MHz band yagi. It's fixed pointing to the west across Manchester as I have hills behind me to the east. I also have a wire dipole for 145 MHz in the loft which works quite well on VHF and UHF.
The DV1 'dalek voice' is a rough effect that appears when both slots are in use on DMR. You'll know it when you hear it!
I've just picked up a used AR5700d receiver and not surprisingly it doesn't seem to suffer from the effect. And it bloody well shouldn't at the price.....
