Re: Dipole
Always good to build things - I make things that work, but are rarely pretty!

Re: Dipole
I used to make dipoles from coax for quick throw up in a tree CB antennas and was amazed at how well they worked.
How's yours performing? What frequency is it for?

Re: Dipole
It's very rewarding to build an antenna then find out it works just as good as a commercial version and a lot cheaper too.
I've just discovered planar disk antennas, that apparently don't necessarily need to be disks. I can see hours of fun testing saucepan lids, tea trays, woks and just about anything to hand

Making and playing with antennas is the reason i got into radio...love the feeling when something works and the challenge when it don't

Re: Dipole
Building antennas is fun and money saving.
Currently I finish building 6 element Yagi for 6m.

Re: Dipole
I find it fun too building antennas. I've not ever worked 6 meters I do believe the band is pretty dead especially the FM side of it but its always fun regardless building an antenna for 6 meters. At the moment I have no transceivers for 6 meters. There was a couple on ebay but FM only and expensive. I'm going to build a transverter board into an old SSB/FM CB radio for 6 meters at some point.

Re: Dipole
I'm sticking with antennas ATM lol Not sure I am ready for building transceivers yet.
Not tried 6m. Did have a go on 2 and 70 but found it to be not my cup of tea bit to local for me Hf is where I'm happiest I think.
I like the distant qso's.
Just adjusted my dipole bit more stretched out works better and on more bands now Inc. 11mtrs
