Yes you're wrong Sammy.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2019, 15:16To be honest Shaun I don't think any of the 2830s were made in the Philippines . Think they were too early for that . I might be wrong .....
There weren't many of them, but there were a few 2830's made in the Philippines. The one I have here was manufactured there. Still in the plain white box though.
The Philippines made 2830's had the darker fronts, black knobs and updated mic just as the Philippines made Lincoln's did.

My later model Taiwan R.O.C 2830 has the smaller hand mike supplied with it,the same as used on the early Lincolns.

Yes ...yes...I Know Andy . I mentioned it before .
I didn't realise that they were still being made that late . Saying that , I only ever had one of them pass through my hands , and it wasn't in the best of shape . So that's another fact that I'll add to my rapidly deteriorating memory
Cheers

No . The other way round Shaun . Taiwan first , Philippines later . First digit is the date , and the second the place of manufacture (3= Taiwan, 5= Philippines) . So 35 for Andy's radio would be Philippines 1993 , as the Philippine radios were made during the 90s . If it were 83 , or something then it would be 83 Taiwan . Cheers
And HNY to you too

Here's the serial number of mine. Appears that mine is a very late model 2830 manufactured in 1993.
Personally, I prefer the look of the later models to the somewhat bland appearance of the all grey earlier version. Plus there wasn't the issue of the annoying talkback through the speaker.

Hi Sammy cheers for that pal, that explains so much
So mine was made in Taiwan R.O.C in 1988 & a production number of 670,
which confirms that it was bought from Raycom's shop in 1988 as the previous owner told me even though we don't have the sales receipt.
All good stuff, learn something new every day

Re: What CB/11m Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
Just won the bidding on a little Midland 2001 uk radio, with box, bracket, thumbscrews and mic' for the princely sum of £14.50 plus a few quid postage. Got it to replace the 3001 I sold recently as I wanted the most basic radio for my inlaws to use if needed when travelling in convoy. Too many switches would have confused them

Re: What CB/11m Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
Hi guys, well my goodies that i bought off Ebay for £48 posted finally arrived today, here are my findings ...
Belcom LS-102: Perfect working order, has had a 3 position band switch fitted also the send/receive switch selects x2 ranges 24/25/26 Mhz & 27/28/29 Mhz,so coverage is 24-30Mhz,the output power starts to drop off below 10w from 24.750 Mhz downwards but at least it can be used the 12m Amateur band as well as on 10m,output power up on 27-28 Mhz about 15w PEP.
Harrier: This has cleaned up nicely, was just some gunky glue residue along the top of the front fascia, this easily came off with a good clean, also it gave me a pleasant surprise as it has had mid band fitted to it on the Hi-Low power switch on the rear of the set, works blob on.
Formac 88: This is boxed & looks like new, works perfect,80 channel mid & high band AM set, power output is 8w on a dead key & a when i whistle in to the mike it is peaking at about 18w.
Think it is safe to say i am more than happy with this haul

A good haul then. There's a few quid to be made if you should wish to off-load some of it at a later date.
The Formac's dont sell for much as a rule, but being mint and boxed will help matters.
The little Harrier could be quite popular with the masses on ebay, especially in good nick and the mid-block added.

Yeah i'm more than pleased & yes i know there's no real demand for Formac's & the Harrier probably worth £25 - £30 ,i may sell those two off on Ebay on the next £1 final value fee weekend, that way hopefully they should make the Belcom yet another one to my freebie collection
