Easy way to remotely trigger PTT?

Post by andrew30 »

Hi,
I'm working on my promised article, but I am still stuck on how to control PTT on a CB radio from PC using commonly available method which requires the least amount of modding...
There are ways to achieve this using RS232, but not many PCs have it. This should be, if possible, plug-n-play solution.

Any ideas?

O.

Okay, but how do you teach WSJT-X to trigger it?

Select rig to NONE.
PTT trigger is done via rts/dtr lines, so that is not an issue.

That was my idea
PC Headphone out -> RDST Mic In
PC Mic in -> RDST SP Out

I'm just missing the PTT trigger.
No other communication necessary. So the above solution can be triggered by DTR?
Edit: Edit above made it clear

Sounds good, I'm getting one and if it works, I'll report back.
Thanks Chris for the tip.

They use an absurdly amplified left channel to ground the ptt line. Does this help you?
