I'll never understand the fascination with these things on here, Ok they might have been ok in their day, But that was then, Even the most mediocre modern CB will put them to shame. Iv'e said it before YAESU Its like the members on a rolls royce forum blowing their loads at the sight of a hillman hunter

Must be some middle aged thing where folk try and relive their youth :)

I just never understood why you'd want to punt big money on a Multimode Cb when you're a kick-in-the-teeth away from 2nd hand HAM radio gear-money..... its a no-brainier.

Exactly craig exactly, Most of those old cobras have had more tools in them than a guest at a michael barrymore party, And the jentec mob are even worse, A fancy inlay and an auld eprom stuffed in them and its £500+

I'm not so sure i'd want CB'ers buying amateur gear, If i ever hear some clown shouting 40 a copy i'm handing my license in, :problem:

Saw that . Saying that I don't agree with the previous comments . Me personally . I don't care for ham gear . Got a TS-870S in it's box that's been used a handful of times . I'm a CB'er and if I want to spend £400 on a Cobra then I'll do it . Let's face it . It's 99% nostalgia , and you can't put a price on that .

How about sending every member of TM1 £5, and we can all get nostalgic about it

Fair enough, What you do with your money is your concern, But it does beg the question why the flux did you bother to get an amateur license ?

Because I was doing morse at college (30 WPM) , and the exam was being done there too . All I'm saying is that both yourself and Chris seem to be having a go at CB'ers for not spending their money on ham gear . Seems strange . Why would they ? They're 2 different hobbies in my eyes . I can understand comments on people over spending in general . I do it all the time . But it's like me slagging off some guy in the ham section for spending £5k on a Drake and telling him that he should have bought 10 x NOS 148s instead . Anyway . I've no interest in ham stuff , so I don't post there .
