If the datacable I have for my Baofengs will work I don't bother buying another one.

I don't think your Baofeng cable will work on the Allinco. The driver is the same prolific DSL that works with my Bao as well as my DR-135 but the chip in the cable is differnt I think. I got the cable and the CD free when I bought the radio. I've posted this before, but I have a copy of the full service manual that I will email to anyone who wants it, just drop me a PM with your email address on it. I send in PDF but can change if someone wants a differnt format.

They are all exactly the same, just badges up differently for different suppliers/markets.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Good grief I started this thread 4 years ago. Didn't realise that I had this radio so long.

But I have a software problem. Since then my Win7 computer was upgraded to Win10 and I haven't used te DR135CB software until today. I wish to "write" a different .dat file on to the Alinco. I just tried to link the program cable from the computer to the radio and there's no communication. I clicked onto Set Up then Communication Port on the DR135CB software but there is no port to click onto. Help!!!!!

I'm wondering if the Prolific chip in the program lead is "out of date" and how I can fool the computer. Computers are not my strong point. Looking online there seems to be all kinds of devices that can't be programmed or controlled after the introduction of Win10.

Edit: I have opened up the programming lead. It has the PL-2303HX chip in it. Bugger!! I am getting my head around this link: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 9c9ce87fcf

Update: I have downloaded Prolific version 3.3.2.105 from this website: http://wp.brodzinski.net/hardware/fake- ... o-install/ Reinstalled it into my comm port. The Alinco has PC on the display, but when I click "write" to download the .dat file, a window pops up with:

Run-time error '8020': Error reading comm device.

And when I click it off the software closes up.

Today not my day :(

Latest update:
FInally sorted :D Downloaded Prolific version 3.3.0.0 from this website: http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php All working now. Hope this helps other people if they come across this problem. Not just Anytone/Qixiang rigs like the Alinco but Baofengs as well.

Only problem is as soon as you turn off / restart your computer, the comm port will automatically go to the newest prolific driver software, and you will have to downgrade manually again.

Hi RadioPixie,

Our Tech lead recently did a video on this subject. If you're interested, the video is here. But you bring up a good point on the COM port reverting to the latest driver.

But here's how you can fix that so it does not default to the latest driver again.
  1. Set the device to the incorrect driver.
  • Right Click on the device and select Uninstall.
  • When the confirmation dialogue comes up there's a tick box that asks if you'd also like to uninstall the driver.Tick this box.
  • Unplug and re-pluin in the cable.
  • Right Click on the device and select Update Driver.
  • Ensure the correct driver is selected.
That's pretty much it. It will select that driver every time as you've deleted the wrong driver. Windows will rarely update drivers unless you (or some software) tells it to.
