Superstar 3600 xtal X2 help

Hi friends,
a Superstar 3600 droped in with some faults.
Final was blown, so i replaced the NEC C1969with a 2312 from Toshiba which works fine now.

But it seems that crystal X2 has been replaced by a pre owner.
There is a 14.910 xtal inside which is not Ranger or UNI branded, but i can not align USB mode. The radio only does 2khz slide with coarse Clarifier.
A Standard 15.000mhz xtal which i have tested does not work well.

Question...anybody there who knows what is the correct crystal? There is no marking on the board. Looks like a PB010 clone, but basicaly a 3900...

I searched all the info I have and did not find this radio. every thing I looked at had a 14.910 in them.it may be the correct crystal but it may be going bad. rfparts has this crystal new in stock.

you might try cleaning the board in the area of the crystal real good then check all the solder joints by reflowing the solder and see if that will help get the radio back up and working.

I finally found a service manual for a pb010 board. see if this will match up to your radio.

Thanks! I ordered a replacement 14.901 crystal at Avera.nl.
The service manual from the PB010 says that a 15.000mhz crystal is used there, but it does not work very well in this radio. There are many variations of the clones.

I've been thinking , and I'm going to edit what I posted yesterday . This radio still has me intrigued . Looking at the pcb , it does look like the EPT360011Z by Ranger . Saying that it looks to have been made in 84 , which means it predates my 11Z 86 (6 band) SS3900 by around 2 years . So . I'm not sure who the manufacturer of the pcb is . I'm presuming that it's a 3 band radio , as you need both crystals for 6 bands . You can get up to 5 bands (like the silver Franklin) on it by adding a few wires , but it's messy .

Regarding the crystal . My 6 band 3900 is split down the middle . The RHS crystal does the lower 3 bands , and the LHS crystal does the 3 higher bands (HIHI/HI/MID) . If your one (RHS) crystal does LO/MID and HI then I'll need to do some calculations to find out the correct value . The problem I have is that I'm not home at the moment , and I can't remember the crystal values .

Yes it looks identical. But mine is a SRT-3600-10 board. Maybe a difference in the frequency generator?

I like them Ralf . Hopefully I'll pick up this local HI BAND one , and then I'll look out for a LO BAND one to add to the collection
