Or a Cameron that tries to convince you that the breaking channel is 9, and when no-one else has been on it for at least 2 years still refuses to let you change channel. The Collector wrote:How about a Maggie Thatcher radio that's got all the rotary controls glued solid, so it's a "This Lady's not for turning" CB!

That reminds me of a mate in the 80's who had an awful 'Cheiza' rig - could hear when he was keying up right across the band. We changed his handle to 'Rasper'black olive wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 09:51 Imagine the Roger Beep when they introduce the President Trump

The Communicators/Planets etc were the best at doing that upon keying up.

Terrible radio's. But even these days people snap them up on eBay. It's been a very long time since I've heard one on air though. The Collector wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 13:46 The Communicators/Planets etc were the best at doing that upon keying up.

Tttthhhhhhrrruuupppp!...that's close enough Always sounded like someone naked that's sat farting on a wet piece of cardboard... or something like that
There's a boxed minter going on ebay at the mo, albeit with a few bits missing from the pack. Last time I saw it, it was already in the mid-£30's and climbing fast.
Sorry for going off-topic.
With the lack of President SSB radios at the mo, a "Trump" radio with a thhhrrruuuppp! sounding key-up would seem very appropriate

It should also come with an optional hairpiece to fit if you wish to do so. Much like the S9 came with an optional American Flag faceplate. The Collector wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 12:26 Tttthhhhhhrrruuupppp!...that's close enough Always sounded like someone naked that's sat farting on a wet piece of cardboard... or something like that

Yeah...velcro pre-fitted on the top of the surround so you can put shredded wheat or dead mice on it.

Re: President crack me up !
The last few President SSB radios haven't been much good. Maybe they are taking a break and getting the next one to work properly?
It is a shame that they cannot redo a limited run of one of the old classics.
A new re-issue of the Original Jackson, Grant, Richard or Jack would sell like hot cakes.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

The Grant 2 Premium isn't a bad radio at all really. Hands and feet above the first G2's in many respects.Mudslinger wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 21:14 The last few President SSB radios haven't been much good. Maybe they are taking a break and getting the next one to work properly?

The Richard is basically a Cobra 148 GTL-DX/Superstar 360FM MK2. I fear that a new run of these would simply be a rehashed 3900 with the associated terrible build quality.

Not technically President, but a brand new but original spec' 148 GTL-DX would sell 1000's of units overnight if they could get permission to build them purely with that name printed on them.

Re: President crack me up !
I wish I had been into radio when the originals were available the first time around. If I had the foresight I could have bought up several new radios and stuck them in a cupboard until now...
