Hello all,
As subject says, does anyone know of a source to buy covers for the old school type chassis size such as the Cobra 148 or Superstar 360/3900?
While it appears that a few US dealers have these for sale, costs to ship are ridiculously high so just wondering if there's a european source for this kind of thing or if anyone has a US source that doesn't take $75 to ship a $10 cover?
The alternative would be a used set and a reliable place to have them restored. For restoration, I have 2 sets of 148 cases and while I'm at it, 2 sets of Lincoln MK1 cases that could be doing with being restored. While I could rub down and paint these, really looking for that professional look. Powder coating for example?
Anyone recommend anywhere they have used in the past for either?
Thanks

i fitted a case from a 3900 to a grant then took same covers and fitted to a 148 gtl so should be ok
i bought some stuff from them and postage was fine but i did get stung on customs duty for a tenner ...but the cases are cheap enough

RF parts are the place that wanted $74 to ship 2 cases and a couple of knobs!
I'll try the other link.

The cases changed somewhere down the line . The later Malaysian/Chinese made radios seem to have lost some of that rough power coating that you can feel with the Taiwan/Philippine made ones . Even the metal doesn't feel as good quality . I would have thought that some company in the UK would do this kind of work ?

I remember a couple of my early 3900's having thicker metal and wrinkle finish paint.
The later ones have a plastic type coating.

I know the quality of the newer cases are not as good but you would think that even these would be available somewhere.
I may email CRT to see if they have somewhere that provides spares.
