Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
I was very surprised that it had an air band feature, I think its pretty good on the air band side, I've been looking for an air band receiver so I'm quite chuffed with that, the sensitivity is good I think it could do with a scan feature tho maybe it has a scan feature I dunno. I downloaded the user manual for it but I still haven't yet worked out all the functions. I've got as far as setting up the CTCSS tones to use the 2 meter repeaters and various other settings and it transmits out of band as well. It never came with the mic so I wired up a standard CB mic for it. I've always liked the Alinco stuff. Its a nice solid little compact radio.

Not exactly ham stuff, but picked up a very clean Vega VEF 206 receiver. It's a bit deaf, but I'm sure I can fix it.

Been a busy man Amateur Radio wise. I have been setting up another station for use at the other QTH while I am looking after the XYL during her Chemotherapy.
Got an original CobWebb that needed some TLC. Spent a couple of days on it and it's as good as new now.
Kenwood MC-60 microphone to go on my trusted 870.
Lastly, today I have bought an ICOM IC-7000 for use in the car and at my other QTH. Save's me hauling my 870 and other kit around all the time.
Just need a nice little LDG ATU for it now.

Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
These arrived the other day and only just got round to unboxing and setting them up.
New IC-7300 that my Mrs has bought me for becoming an old git in October (it's early because I am impatient and couldn't wait)
Yaesu FTM-100DR. New Dual Band digital/analogue set. Quite a few repeaters up this neck of the wood going fusion so thought this would fit the bill nicely for that and still allows me to chat simplex on 70cms. Yes, there is activity here on 70cms!
Huge smile on face

Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
Just got hold of a Kenwood SP-31 speaker and PS-52 PSU to match my TS-870. Been looking to get these for a while but they have been silly money.
Found the pair at a very agreeable price and they are in excellent condition.
Can't wait to see my 870 in between them with the MC-60 attached.
Now all I need to complete my 870 is a few of the internal modules which are like hens teeth.
Sad I know.

Nice line up m8! Of all the Kenwood radios I've owned and there's not many I haven't had, the 870 is one of them. I've owned its predecessor, the 850 for many years and it's close to being my favourite radio in terms of receiver performance and received audio quality.andymuza wrote:Just got hold of a Kenwood SP-31 speaker and PS-52 PSU to match my TS-870. Always fancied the 870 but never seem to find a clean one at sensible money!

Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
Iv'e had an 850 as well and they are a fantastic radio but the 870 for me is the daddy. Many people rate the 950SDX as the king and it maybe but they command a crazy price so have never been in the position to try one especially as I can't see the difference being big enough to warrant the extra money.kilimax wrote: Nice line up m8! I got mine cheap, very cheap. It was a silent key sale and had some minor marks which to be honest are hard to spot so can't moan about it.
The speaker and PSU I have just acquired also are from a silent key.
Last night I managed to source an SO-2 TCXO to help make my 870 even better.
