Thanks for that Sec, but its the same for me as it is for you I expect... You get a buzz out of modding these things lol.

Although after having done a few now I've come across a few electrically noisy one's to date. Its not the end of the road for them as its possible to knock up an external filter to clean up the output of the small few that are noisy. I really must get a scope soon, and test and take some notes under varying loads.

If a supply is causing interference on HF it doesn't mean it necessarly wil on VHF or UHF. Its just that my main use is CB radio for these units, or at least testing them. As some will know electrical noise at idle outputs can be very different when medium to heavy loads are applied, output ripple noise etc. So at the moment I'm looking into external self built inductance capacitance filters. And a scope would really help.

But having said that, for the most part the majority of server supplys have a clean enough final output. Its a challenge to clean up the noisy one's.

They won't send it back until 2 weeks have expired. It's a business address, don't fret, I'll get it.

Took delivery of a DPS-800GB A this morning. Can't get over how easy these are to do and how cheap. 50 plus Amp PSU for 15 quid.

Fantastic.

Your probably right on the edge of the envelope of the voltage feedback sense circuit. I would have expected it to have shut down before 13.90 Volts to protect the server it might have been powering. Could be a one off, or a fail on the manufacturers part, good result btw, but out of safe tolerance for IT use.

Hi mate, yeah, long story, we have an agreement with Parcelforce, they make out they deliver it twice and then drop it at the local PO, it works for everyone.

Lol.. These things are so popular for the freebanders. I think that's why this threads had so many views, people don't need to contribute to get info on them, but its nice if they do ! Most folks will use a linear reasponsabaly if there is such a thing. Hope you don't get to much noncence noise from abusive yobs.
