Post by Admiral »

DMR TG235 UK wide Net cancelled once again, lack of repeater access for M3AWY cited last week despite him being able to get in every week for the previous 18 months, then this week, nada, not even a stupid excuse.

Colin the Head talks more sense than this guy, but the purpose of the thread could come under the subtitle 'has amateur DMR MARC been drowned in its own sewage?'.

Most of the repeaters I can get round my way have defected to Brandmeister a few days ago.
Wonder how many others have?

Methinks some of the keepers are a tad fed up with the tail wagging the dog.

Oh wow, just checked and all the Scottish DMR repeaters (all 2 of them) switched to Brandmeister 2 days ago!

Brandmeister/DMR-MARC seems to be a bit of a North/South split at the moment on face value.

I do wonder whats going on between the repeater keepers and CC-3 or Pigeon sorry Phoenix as so many are going over to the Brandmiester network. The two people behind the UK BM network seem to be doing a good job.

As a relative newcomer to it all, I'm a little lacking in the background behind the scenes of the network.

I assume that Brandmeister / Phoenix etc are some routers held in private hands, made available for various repeaters to link to ?

If so, there doesn't seem to be much transparency as to who runs them, owns them.

I assume there's silly politics behind each group taking place, and tin gods dictating who should be connected, and with their own versions
on how the network should run.

Can anyone give a potted history of them ?

M3AWY could only access 2 repeaters - GB7HM (no longer on the network) and GB7FW (off line)
