Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
Well finally got some replacement knobs for my TS-870.
Bought the radio 14 months ago through a friend who was selling it as part of a silent key sale. The radio is great apart from two knobs had been changed, the RIT/XIT and the M.CH/VFO.CH knobs. No one knew why these two had been changed and the ones that had been put on were from a Yaesu radio. They looked ok but it always annoyed me that they weren't the original ones.
I looked everywhere with no successes and looked almost every day on eBay etc but no luck.
Any way 14 moths later I got hold of a full set for the reasonable price of 14 quid. Also got the added bonus of a replacement front panel, All in they cost £30 including postage.
Well happy that my 870 will be original again.,

Good stuff Andy . My 870 is still in it's box in the basement . I bought it new around 2000 . I think I've used it for about 24 hours in that time I usually power it up a couple of times a year just to keep it ticking over .

Don't know how you can not use it Sammy, you must have some self control.
Use mine every day. It's the third one I've owned. I have tried many other radio's but not many match it or beat it and those that do are way beyond what I would pay.

Get it on the bench and use it.
I couldn't do that. I would have to set it up on my bench and at least admire it!

A MyHerpes guy just delivered a new V-2000 antenna.
Saturday i got a bit of Clansman wire for the longwire, copper ground rods and clamps.
Just waiting on some galvanised wire rope, eyes and grips for some support, then can sort mast number 2 (again).

Now the proud owner of a Yaesu FT-847. Lovely radio with the bonus of having the 4M mod. Still studying the owners manual, quite a lot to take in...
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

Took delivery of my TS-870 front yesterday and it's in great condition with no text faded on the front unlike the current one.
Only problem with it is it has a strong cigarette odor but for what I paid it's a small sacrifice.
Now what should I use to get rid of the smell?
