Icom F1010

Post by StormShadow »

I just found an Icom F1010 in my loft which I had forgotten all about. I think I paid about 20 pounds for it quite some time ago. Its a VHF model from what I can tell although the radio is blank so it doesn't have anything programmed into it. I don't have the programming software for it either, I have no mic for it, however I do have a whole box of various PMR/CB mics somewhere... so I'm hoping that one might fit it. Ideally I'd like to program this radio for the 2 meter band. I have seen some Icom F1010 radios advertised as air band receivers which has interested me also, I wouldn't mind having it as an air band receiver or if I can have it doing both so that it does 2 meters and airband would be nice but I'm guessing it would only be capable of doing one or the other. I don't know much about these radios so I'm hoping that somebody could tell me a bit more about them and whats involved to convert one to an air band receiver? if not I'd love to have it as a 2 meter radio.

Can these do AM?

Does anybody have the programming software for one?

Many thanks.
